Many domainers closely follow domain name sales data to understand more about domain name values. Previous sales data can only be a rough guide to the possible value of any particular domain name and should not be used as the sole determinant of a domains value. Nevertheless, general sale prices for domains that are similar to one another or are on similar topics can be very helpful.

There are a number of sources of sales data and I want to outline the main ones below.

I have found the UK domains sales listing at DomainPrices.co.uk very interesting and useful if you want to see what UK ccTLDs have sold for in the past. Some UK domains are selling for some really nice prices at the moment.

The sites NameBio.com and DNSalePrice.com, are comprehensive searchable databases of domain sales including .com, .net etc.

DNJournal.com  is another good source of domain sales data. A weekly summary of reported domain sales is available here and year to date sales chart can be found here.

Afternic.com  is large seller of domain names and its completed sales listing can be found here.

Finally, don’t forget that if you are registered with eBay.com (or eBay.co.uk and probably any of the other eBay sites) you can look at the final selling prices of domain names sold on that site by searching for “domain names”, then clicking the box next to “completed listings” under “Search Options” on the left hand side.

Here’s a question: what value is there in/ or how does one put a value on names relating
to the topic of the digital music scene? Specifically, the whole thing with drm free mp3s?

Now there’s been quite a bit of news on this, as you may know, lately. Super Bowl ad/
Justin Timberlake// Pepsi and Amazon, not to mention the major labels trying to figure
things out. I mean, now Yahoo! Music looks like they’re getting involved. Big bucks
behind the football ads… the give-away itself will be valued at as many as 1 billion songs from Amazon MP3.

With a quote like this: “”MP3 music is the future of the industry and Pepsi Stuff is an accelerator,” Danny Socolof, president of Las Vegas-based MEGA, Inc., the company that is managing the promotion, said in a statement.” [ http://www.internetnews.com/bu.....hp/3721576 how do you value/appraise these?

So, if one had names like:
    drmfreealbum.com
    drmfreealbums.com
    drmfreedownload.com
    drmfreedownloads.com
    drmfreemp3.com
    drmfreemp3s.com
    drmfreemusic.info
    drmfreemusicdownloads.com
    drmfreesongs.com
    drmfreetrack.com
    drmfreetracks.com

Just curious; wanted to start a conversation. Wonder how many eyeballs the Super Bowl gets? I don’t really even watch football.
