Some more domainers tips

This week Frank Schilling - possibly the worlds greatest domainer! - moved his blog off Typepad onto its own domain and can now be found on SevenMile.com. Adjust your feed readers accordingly.

SevenMile.com also has an interesting introduction to domaining  that I wanted to share. Interestingly, the author  Richard Quilley had this interesting tip……….

For example, a new technology comes out. Find a similar technology, then use Google Keyword and Overture to see what phrases are of value in that similar technology. Then use those phrases with your new technology. (***FS*** ie. Enter WAP keyword into overture and replace newer phone standard into results where it makes sense)

As usual I urge you to go over to Frank’s site and read everything Frank has written, twice :) !

Researching domains

I am always on the lookout for ways of finding new domain names and I liked the post on the Self Made Minds blog on researching domains.

It does recommend using the Overture search count tool to see how many searches there are on any particular word or phrase. Unfortunately, I think they are no longer updating Overture and the data is getting out of data very quickly. The nearest alternative is WordTracker.com. There is a subscription fee for access to the full service, although there is a free trial which provides limited access to search results.

Nevertheless, and its an interesting article and worth reading.
